International express should be careful to avoid unnecessary losses

Recently, the Beijing Post Office Customs express mail supervision site successively seized 2 batches of live beetles from the Japanese entry EMS mail, a total of 9, identified by the Beijing Customs Skill Center, as the Chinese Sphaerophora and Megaphylophora longbergii。The beetles were packaged in individual plastic containers with small holes drilled into the LIDS and filled with paper scraps and food for the beetles to eat。In order to evade customs control, the mailing lists were falsely declared as "simulated toy models" and "Accessories"。

According to the List of Animals, Plants, Their Products and Other Quarantine Objects prohibited to be carried or mailed into the Country of the People's Republic of China, customs officers at the scene have temporarily detained the above beetles。Live animals are expressly prohibited from entering the country by post. The recipients of this batch of mail have not gone through any approval procedures, and their source, variety and health status are unknown. They may carry parasites, viruses and bacteria that are harmful to human health, and the quarantine risk is extremely high。Once the beetles escape, they will even form species invasion, which will cause great damage to the domestic ecological environment。
According to statistics, as of 2020, Beijing Post Customs has seized 5 batches of various types of beetles in EMS mail, a total of 60, of which 7 are exotic species。

The Customs reminds customers that they should understand the relevant laws and regulations in advance before the entry of postal items, and do not mail prohibited items stipulated by the country to avoid unnecessary losses。
